## roughtime.alastyr.com

A public Roughtime server operated by [Alastyr Telekomünikasyon A.Ş.](https://www.alastyr.com/),
an internet infrastructure and hosting provider in İzmir, Türkiye. It adds an independent
time source to the ecosystem: time comes directly from GNSS, not from other NTP servers.

The server is a dedicated physical machine (no virtualisation) in a data centre with N+1
power. A dual-band (L1 + L5) Quectel LC29H receiver tracks GPS, GLONASS, Galileo and BeiDou;
its pulse per second is timestamped in hardware by an Intel i210 NIC and chrony disciplines
the system clock to it (stratum 1, typically a few nanoseconds RMS). The clock is continuously
compared with eleven independent stratum-1 servers (TÜBİTAK UME, PTB, Netnod, INRIM, CZ.NIC,
RIPE NCC, Time.nl); if the satellite signal is lost for 10 minutes it falls back to them.
Leap seconds are not smeared.

It runs [roughtimed](https://github.com/dansarie/roughtimed) (draft-ietf-ntp-roughtime-19,
wire version 0x8000000c) over UDP on IPv4 and IPv6. RADI is derived from the kernel's
`maxerror`, so it is 1 s while synchronised and grows automatically if synchronisation is lost.
The long-term key is kept offline; the online key is delegated for one year at a time. The
service is monitored with a signed self-query every minute and restarted automatically.

Available at `roughtime.alastyr.com:2002`. The public key is published at
<https://ntp.alastyr.com/en/roughtime.html> and in the server list
<https://ntp.alastyr.com/roughtime.json>. The same clock also publishes a signed,
Roughtime-anchored log of its own state every minute: <https://ntp.alastyr.com/en/time-evidence.html>.
