I am submitting

  • a new package
  • an update for a package

Description: araby-book is a template for typesetting Arabic books. It handles the parts that are tedious to set up from scratch for RTL Arabic text: a title page, optional dedication page, table of contents, chapter-aware running headers, Eastern Arabic-Indic page numbering, and styled footnotes. It also includes helpers for classical poetry pairs and decorative verse and quotation callouts, which are common in Arabic prose but have no existing shorthand in Typst. I couldn't find any published template on Typst Universe that specifically targets Arabic book typesetting (RTL layout, Arabic numerals, poetry/verse conventions), so this fills that gap for Arabic-writing authors coming to Typst.

I have read and followed the submission guidelines and, in particular, I

  • selected a name that isn't the most obvious or canonical name for what the package does
    • Explanation: "Araby" is a stylized rendering of "Arabi" (عربي, "Arabic") - it reads as an evocative, name-like word rather than a literal transliteration of "Arabic." Paired with the descriptive "book," it satisfies the non-descriptive-prefix + descriptive-suffix pattern the naming rules ask for (similar to the organized-ajp example), without claiming a bare canonical term like arabic or arabic-book outright.
  • added a typst.toml file with all required keys
  • added a README.md with documentation for my package
  • have chosen a license and added a LICENSE file or linked one in my README.md
  • tested my package locally on my system and it worked
  • excluded PDFs or README images, if any, but not the LICENSE
  • ensured that my package is licensed such that users can use and distribute the contents of its template directory without restriction, after modifying them through normal use.
