It may not be clear to newcomers what this repository actually contains. The first sentence says "A Raspberry Pi distribution", but the repository is tiny so it cannot contain the whole distribution. Then there is heading "Where to get it?". What to get? I am in GitLab so it guess I should "get it" using "git clone".

Maybe a more precise, yet short, introduction to what you are actually offering would be handy.

After a few minutes of thinking it is probably clear: The mirror contains the OS, it is just installed and that's it. Your repository is for creating new builds ... but it is not obvious at first glance.

Sadly it is not for me, as tabs can be freely added/closed by the user.

Thumb up for reopening the browser when user presses ALT+F4 or CTRL+W or when the window is closed by mouse after pressing F11!

I wish I could predefine just 1 tab and user would not be able to add new or close existing by no means while allowing them to use standard keyboard and mouse. After entering a password, admin could add/remove tabs or even quit the browser and standard OS would be available.
Current IP could be displayed on the screen

I will keep watching your project as it is on good way and it is so far the best what I have tested while searching for kiosk solutions.

You can try to use /boot/firmware/fullpageos.txt for loading a single page without the tab features from the default app FullPageDashboard. Simply edit this file and put in the single URL you want to load in fullscreen at startup. Using single page load with fullpageos.txt should be the default imo as many websites out there do not allow loading them via iFrames and therefore not function properly using FullPageDashboard.

Thanks for the feedback. Currently file /boot/firmware/fullpageos.txt contains only one URL and tabs are still enabled. I will try to modify the project FullPageDashboard, namely /var/www/html/FullPageDashboar/index.php
If in this file tabs are removed, I think I reached my goal. Wish me luck :)

PS: Also F1 and CTRL+ALT+F* or CTRL+W combinations need to be disabled, for example in the beginning of file /opt/custompios/scripts/start_chromium_browser. F1 (usually has keycode 67) is disabled like this:

That‘s correct. fullpageos.txt contains the start URL of FullPageDashboard which enables the multipage and scripted tabs feature and loads every given page in an iFrame (which is the main problem when loading webpages as many of them blocking iFrames).
Just change the content of fullpageos.txt from the FullPageDashboard welcome page to your own single URL you want to display. Then the iFrame tabs from FullPageDashboard are being disabled and only your single URL is being loaded.
You can not disable the open new tabs with the keyboard feature from chrome itself though with this method (I doubt this is even possible at all, one solution might be to avoid any keyboard connection and don‘t activate a virtual onscreen keyboard).

I started using this last night for a Home Assistant dashboard on a touchscreen. You mention "don‘t activate a virtual onscreen keyboard" How do you actually enable the virtual keyboard??

This repository does contain the code to build the distribution. Its tiny because it uses CustomPiOS, which is a library to build a distribution on top of other base images. In general, software is built on top of other software and any repository could depend on other projects.
For example: Chromium browser for example depends on libcrypt, its not part of their repository. This repo contains all you need to build your own FullPageOS, given you provide its dependencies. One of them is a base images. Its part of the building instructions.
