Not merging this one. Material has no runtime presence in the app, so 1.14.0 cannot change anything observable.

• No com.google.android.material imports in Kotlin or Java.
• No XML references beyond the theme parent in apps/flipcash/app/src/main/res/values/themes.xml:4 and values-v31/themes.xml:4.
• No layout/ directories anywhere. The UI is entirely Compose, so no Material widget is ever inflated.

The dependency supplies exactly one thing: Theme.MaterialComponents.DayNight.NoActionBar as the parent of Theme.Code, the launcher and splash theme. Everything 1.14.0 ships lands on classes this app never instantiates. Ten minor releases of component and resource churn for a style parent is not worth taking without something failing at runtime.

The durable fix is to drop the dependency rather than keep declining the bump. MainActivity is a FragmentActivity rather than an AppCompatActivity, and androidx.appcompat 1.8.0 is already in the catalog, so Theme.Code could reparent and com.google.android.material:material could come out of apps/flipcash/app/build.gradle.kts:299. Theme.Code carries the splash configuration, including windowBackground and the windowSplashScreen* attributes on v31, so that needs checking on both API paths first.
