Vim mode badge?

The Vim mode in that release note refers to the CLI’s input-editor mode, not the Ctrl+G action for opening a free-form answer in your external editor. The badge is intended to show that Vim-style editing is enabled for the current prompt input, and it remains visible while the agent is working so the mode doesn’t disappear during a turn. |

Release notes for 1.0.81 says this:
"Vim mode badge stays visible beside the activity indicator during turns"
Could someone explain what vim mode is referred to here?
The only vim mode I'm aware of is edit the prompt in vim by way of hitting Ctrl-g.
