Feature: one click to start measuring distances

Great app. Only function I’m missing is the possibility to measure distance between two or more points in the map. Not specifically between POIs. Rather just temporary measurements.

Use this app alot for hunting.

Hello, have you tried the "draw path" feature? You can access it from the main "+" button (bottom right of the screen) and then by tapping the "path" button among the floating options on the left: you can place points and it displays the distance at the top. Is this what you were looking for?

Yes exactly. I found that solution later, scrolling the list here on github. It sure works and fills the purpose. It’s just a few clicks too much to be ”convenient”.

But really I dont have a better solution. I use two other map apps and both are not directly easier. Google maps might be the easiest. Hold at position to mark, then select measure. Basically same as your app, but we click to make mark, select path, and the click out the path POI.

I use distance measuring ALOT so that’s why I like it with easy access.

Thanks for the feedback. It's true that to start measuring, you need to tap:

• "+" to open the menu
• "path" to start drawing the path
• "+" to create the first point
• then you can move the map around to start measuring a distance

An improvement I could make for everybody (not just your use case) is to immediately create the first point when you start drawing a path, that way you don't need to tap the + button initially, and it removes one click from the steps needed for your use case.

Then to further help with your specific use case, I've updated the requirements of workflows #70 by adding a trigger "Workflow button (exact layout + UX TBD) from the main view" and an action "Start drawing a path".

This would mean you could create a custom workflow that can be triggered by a button from the main view to start drawing a path, and it would immediately start measuring from your initial map location as you move the map around.

I'll change this issue's title to "Feature: one click to start measuring distances".
